Super telephoto

Considering the crop factor of APS-C X Series sensors, the XF500mmF5.6 grants a 35mm equivalent focal length of 762mm. This level of reach is ideal for discerning photographers in the wildlife and sports genres.

With a high-quality optical construction consisting of 21 elements in 14 groups, this lens has the resolving power to make full use of the latest 40.2-megapixel X Series sensors, such as those in the FUJIFILM X-T5, X-H2 and X-T50. The advanced design also limits the kind of aberrations often seen in lenses with extreme focal lengths.

The XF500mmF5.6 is compatible with both the FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR and XF2X TC WR teleconverters, which boost the lens to a stunning 700mm or 1000mm focal length (35mm equivalent of 1067mm and 1524mm) with no loss in quality.

Professional features

Massively improving the lens’s capability while working handheld, the XF500mmF5.6 has been designed with an Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) system that delivers up to 5.5 stops of benefit. This allows users to work at significantly lower shutter speeds, improving usability in darker conditions.

On top of this, the fast and silent linear motor-driven autofocus system keeps images in continuous focus. When working at extreme focal lengths, accurate AF is critical – that’s why the XF500mmF5.6 is designed to find its target in as little as 0.33 seconds. An on-lens focus limiter switch also decreases the active AF range of the lens, reducing hunting and further speeding up target acquisition.

Versatile build

Due to the amount of glass, a super telephoto lens often requires a monopod for support – but the XF500mmF5.6 has a lightweight design that encourages handheld use. At only 1335g, it can be happily carried around all day, and the 255.5mm length ensures it easily fits in most kitbags.

Thanks to its weather-resistant build, the XF500mmF5.6 is well suited to life on the road – sealed at every crucial site along the lens barrel, the optic lets you create with confidence in adverse weather conditions and freezing temperatures.
