Combining professional camera specifications with no-nonsense controls, the FUJIFILM X-M5 is the ideal lightweight companion for creators making the leap from their smartphone cameras. In this article, we look at the features that make the X-M5 what it is.

Professional standards
The compact X-M5 puts quality imaging equipment in the palm of your hand. With an image sensor five to 16 times larger than a typical smartphone camera, it creates photos and video with significantly richer colour and detail, while improved light-gathering delivers better low-light footage and a more cinematic look.
Thanks to X-Processor 5 – the same imaging processor found in top-of-the-range Fujifilm cameras like the FUJIFILM X100VI and X-T5 – AI-driven subject detection autofocus ensures that focus is spot on, even for moving subjects and content that’s created in adverse lighting conditions.
Another major benefit of the X-M5 compared to mobile phone cameras is the access to an ecosystem of FUJIFILM X Series lenses. Whatever your imaging needs – from ultra wide-angle to super telephoto – there’s an X Series lens to suit them.

Advanced Vlog mode
Weighing just 355g and measuring 111.9mm across, the X-M5 is extremely easy to work with for creators more used to smartphone cameras. When set to Vlog mode, the large, bright LCD touchscreen on the back has an updated interface that makes operating the camera while presenting to it much simpler.
The new Advanced Vlog mode also adds commonly required settings that can be intuitively selected while filming with just a tap on the screen – such as Background Defocus mode, Product Priority mode and the Face Detection setting.

Quality audio
Nothing ruins a video like poor audio. That’s why the X-M5 is equipped with three on-board microphones to keep all recorded sound beautifully crisp.
Two of the mics pick up audio from in front of and behind the camera, while a third focuses on more general ambience – and helps to actively reduce distracting noise. What’s more, if your audio needs go beyond the ordinary, the X-M5 offers total flexibility and allows you to plug in an external microphone.

Film Simulation dial
Just like the FUJIFILM X-T50, the X-M5 features a dedicated Film Simulation dial. Easily accessed on the top of the body, this tactile control emphasises creativity by letting you effortlessly play with colour and tonality. You can now quickly switch between iconic profiles based on analogue film, as well as your own custom recipes, giving your content a unique identity.
The X-M5 features the full complement of Fujifilm’s 20 Film Simulation modes – including the recently developed REALA ACE profile, which combines realistic colour rendering with a crisp tonal gradation.
