Carl Hare

Hampshire-based Carl Hare pairs creative experience with technical know-how as a freelance photographer and FUJIFILM UK Product Specialist. His photography spans many genres, and while his professional roots trace back to weddings, Carl is equally adept at studio portraiture, street photography, landscapes and wildlife.

Keen to share his wealth of knowledge, Carl has delivered photography workshops for close to a decade. His passion for the outdoors is a constant source of inspiration, and when he can combine it with his teaching skills, there’s simply nothing better — for him and his students.

What can you expect from the Oxford photo walk?

This photo walk is aimed at photography beginners and enthusiasts, though those who want to test out the range of equipment or enjoy a day out with our photography community are more than welcome!

With a lot of freedom to work at your own pace, Carl will help you navigate your way around and help you produce great images. There is less focus on in-depth tuition and genre theory, however, you do have the opportunity to talk directly to Carl who will be able to answer your specific photography queries.

Embark on a photographic journey through Oxford, capturing the essence of its historic charm. Starting at Art Cafe, we'll weave through iconic sites like the towering Carfax Tower and the serene St. Mary Magdalen. Broad Street's architectural wonders await, leading to the majestic Bodleian Library and the striking Radcliffe Camera. Between shots, enjoy a delightful lunch, immersing yourself in the city's vibrant energy before arriving back at our starting point.

These will include tips for street photography, black and white photography, composition, and how to anticipate a compelling story to freeze the moment in time.

As ever, light and exposure are crucial, so they will receive due time and attention as the day progresses. You’ll receive different photo briefs throughout the day to help you experiment with camera settings and photographic techniques.

What kit do you need?

You’re welcome to bring your own set-up, although a selection of the latest FUJIFILM cameras and lenses will be available on the day. Photographers travelling lighter are also welcome to borrow 3LeggedThing tripods and Kase filters.

Please do contact us on fujifilm_schoolUK@fujifilm.com or call us on 0203 486 4610 if there is anything you want to try. We will try our very best to accommodate you.

As the UK weather is so unpredictable, be sure to pack weather-appropriate clothing, wear comfortable shoes, and take a bottle of water and snacks to keep you going. Though we will have a designated break time to rest, catch up and reset, there will be a lot of walking and time spent outside.
